Statement of Faith
What We Believe
The Scriptures
We believe the Bible—the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments—is the true Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13). We believe in verbal, plenary inspiration in the original writings, and in God's preservation of His pure words to every generation (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 12:6-8).
We accept and use the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Received Text (Textus Receptus) of the New Testament. The King James Version (KJV) is the only English version we use.
The Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice.
The Godhead
We believe in one Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternally existing in three Persons, equal in power, glory, and nature (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
The Person and Work of Christ
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man through the virgin birth, while still being fully God (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-8; Galatians 4:4-5).
He accomplished our salvation through His death on the cross as our substitute and proved our justification through His literal, physical resurrection (Romans 3:24-25; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5).
He ascended to Heaven and is now at God’s right hand as our High Priest—our Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate (Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2).
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8-11), regenerates believers, places them into the body of Christ, and seals them until the day of redemption (2 Corinthians 3:6; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13-14).
We believe the sign gifts (tongues, healing, etc.) were temporary (1 Corinthians 13:8; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Hebrews 2:3-4). Speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of being filled with the Spirit. While physical healing can happen in answer to prayer, complete deliverance will occur in the resurrection.
Man
Man was created in God's image but fell through Adam's sin, becoming sinful by nature and separated from God (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23; Ephesians 2:1-3). Man cannot fix his sinful condition on his own.
Every human life has value because we are made in God’s image and Christ died for us (Psalm 8:4-9; Colossians 3:9-11).
The Way of Salvation
Salvation comes through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21).
We believe salvation is by grace through faith alone—no works involved (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:18-19).
A saved person can choose to stop trusting in Christ and be lost again (Hebrews 6:4-6; 10:26-29; 2 Peter 2:20-22; 1 Timothy 1:19-20). The Bible shows this is possible, though not probable (2 Peter 1:5-10).
As long as someone continues in faith in Christ and perseveres to the end, they are saved. Salvation is a present possession, and our eternal destiny depends on whether we have it. We reject the idea that works or human merit earn salvation.
The Church
The Church is the body and bride of Christ, made up of all born-again believers. It began with Christ and the Apostles, was empowered at Pentecost, and will be caught up at the Rapture (Ephesians 1:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14).
The New Testament clearly teaches the establishment of local churches (Acts 14:27; 20:17, 28-32; 1 Timothy 3:1-13).
Each local church is autonomous and free from outside control (Acts 13:1-4; Romans 16:1; 1 Peter 5:1-4).
Human Sexuality
We believe sexual intimacy should only occur in a marriage between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:22-24).
Any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, or pornography is a sinful misuse of God’s gift (Romans 1:26-29; Hebrews 13:4).
God created men and women equal in spiritual value, but gave them distinct roles. The husband is to lead the home, and only men may serve as pastors and deacons (Galatians 3:28; 1 Timothy 2:8-15).
Church Ordinances
We recognize three ordinances for the church today:
Baptism by immersion
The Lord’s Supper
Washing of the saints’ feet
(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; John 13:2-15; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
Biblical Separation
Christians should live in a way that honors Christ and separate themselves from false teaching, worldly behavior, and sinful influences (2 Timothy 3:1-5; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1).
The Return of Christ
We believe in the Blessed Hope—the personal, visible, imminent return of Christ.
He will rapture the Church before the Tribulation
At the end of the Tribulation, He will return to establish His 1,000-year reign on earth
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:11-16; 20:1-6)
Our Eternal State
All people will be resurrected:
The saved to eternal life (John 11:25-26; Revelation 20:4-6)
The unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15)
The souls of believers go immediately to be with the Lord after death and await their glorified bodies (Philippians 1:23; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
Unbelievers remain in conscious misery until the final judgment, after which they will be cast into the Lake of Fire for eternal punishment (Luke 16:19-26; Mark 9:43-48).
